Why is it???

It amazes me every Sunday how this sweet little sleeping angel can become such a monster at church. Since we've been in Arizona church has been especially difficult with Oliver. I don't know what it is but much of our three hours is spent chasing a screaming monster around the building... it sure is exhausting. I guess it must be the age ... but I am finding it hard to even want to bother going to church because I know what I'm going to have to deal with, it doesn't matter how many snacks, books and stuffed animals I bring he is out of control. I feel like I can't control my own child and it is so frustrating.... any words of advice (encouragement) would be great other mommy's!!

Thanks!!

ahhhh, church with an energetic son. I feel ya. But, I'll give you advice because I have been there, done that, and still do that. And I also take great advice from a mom in my old ward with several small children. Oliver has probably figured out that his mom or dad WILL take him OUT. OUT is FUN. The goal...make it NOT fun. When he is being loud and you must take him out...take him to a room or in the hall and sit with him on your lap. Hold him so tight. He will scream, he will kick, and he will get tired and finally give up. I don't have to take Nash out anymore, but it's not easy. Maybe you already do it, but whatever you do, don't let him down when you take him out. Ok, that was long. lol sorry. byt the way, he looks so cute sleeping.

No words of encouragement here! (I have that same wild child on sundays) I'll be checking back though to see if you get any! Eli is FINALLY old enough for the nursury! Yahoo! However, Sacrament Mtg. is STILL a chore!!

hansenfive has my same idea... the foyer is meant to be NOT fun. No freedom to run , no books, no treats- just boring sitting. A couple weeks of this and he will see you mean business when you tell him he's going to have to go out if he doesn't stop what he's doing in the chapel. More importantly #1 rule to teaching kids... what you say you will do, you must be willing to do. If you break your word, you lose oliver's ability to take you seriously. So know before your upset what your cosequenses are... otherwise frustration kills your thinking ability and you threaten things you won't follow thru on, or you give up. Talk with Berto and keep you both on the same page too. Miss you, our visit was soooo nice. And of course neither one uf us took pictures:)

Stone has always hated church. I think it is a boy thing, but maybe I just use that as an excuse. We used to feed him the whole time- which worked for a while, but now doesn't. He's been especially bad lately and this week at the end of sacrament meeting began clapping his hands and yelling Hooray!. The ward thought it was funny- I wanted to hide. Good luck with that!
