Preschool Performance

Oliver's preschool did a cute little performance and an assisted living facility last week! It was adorable and we were so proud of Oliver. This was the first time all year that he actually sang and did the motions for the songs. Previously he just stood there! :)

18 Months already!

(Isaac's recent favorite "Cheese" face!) I can't even believe Isaac is 18 months old already. He is such a funny, crazy, sweet boy! Here are his 18 month stats! Height: 34.35 inches 93rd percentile Weight 27.18 lbs 66th percentile He shot up nearly 3 inches in the last three months and went from 63rd percentile in height to the 93rd! We still don't know how our kids are so tall! :) Isaac is a character. He talks up a storm and does his best to keep up with his big brother at all times. He looks up to Oliver so much already. It's adorable. I am constantly reminding Oliver that he needs to be a good example because Isaac does EVERYTHING Oliver does! Some of the words Isaac says now are: Mommy, Daddy, cat, poop, doggy, uh-oh, hello, bye, What is that?, mine, I do it, Grammy, Amen, Grandpa, Tita, Sorry, I love you!, Excuse me!, happy, puppy, butt,, Olvo (Oliver), brudder (brother), And he's trying to say his ABC's (thanks to his big brother's constant reciting and singing of them!) This is not a complete list... it's just what I can think of off the top of my head. He's such a chatterbox!

The funny things they say!

Love these cute brother's being brother's!
The past couple days the boys have each had a moment that I want to remember! Yesterday afternoon while Berto and Oliver were at soccer, Isaac was walking around the house saying "uh oh shoe, uh oh shoe..." I couldn't figure out why he was saying that. Isaac loves shoes and he is always walking around with one shoe on his foot (usually someone's other than his own). A couple hours later when Berto and Oliver were home, Berto went to the bathroom and discovered one of Oliver's flip flops in the toilet..... uh oh shoe is right! Funny boy.... guess I'd better keep a better eye on that baby and keep him out of the bathroom! This afternoon Berto took the boys to Wheeler Farms for a couple hours to play so I could catch up on a few things. When they got back it was getting close to bedtime. Oliver was trying to convince us to let him go outside to play again.... I asked Berto if there were any kids out when they got home and he said no... Oliver replied "But I hear them with my good ear!" The best part is, he doesn't have a bad ear. He has two perfectly working ears! Love that goofy boy!

So grown up!

Today I had one of those moments when I realized how fast time is flying by and how grown up my boys are already becoming. Especially my sweet Oliver has become so grown up. He has never had trouble walking up to another kid (of any age) and making an instant friend. He loves other kids, he loves to play and run and laugh.... but he has always been very shy around adults. If an adult talks to him he hides his face and tries not to make eye contact. Even our pediatrician has asked probing questions because Oliver has never said a word in his office. Today Oliver got an airplane he's been wanting as a reward for something that he earned. When we left target after buying it we had to make a quick run into home depot. While we were in home depot Oliver walked right up to two of the employees and told them all about his airplane. I was astonished. He has never willingly spoken to an adult other than family in his life. At church last year it took him 7 months to say "HI" to his Sunday school teacher. This is huge for my little man. I was so proud... and when we were walking out I said "you sure were telling every one about your airplane!" He replied, "No, I only told two people and I want to tell five!" Haha, love me sweet grown up Oliver boy!

Happy Easter 2012

I think I'm feeling especially grateful this Easter. I know I just blogged about Isaac but this was the longest week of my life. Wondering how bad, and how much change our life might be taking in the all to near future. I'm so grateful that it will be resolved without any changes (except an added vitamin D supplement and lots of time outside!) But I am also thankful to know that because of my Savior, Jesus Christ I will return to my Heavenly Father again someday, and no matter what happens to my family we will all be together again.

This Easter is pretty low key for us since Berto is working. Yesterday (Saturday) morning we did a very small little Easter egg hunt for the boys. It was fun. Isaac really could care less! He didn't want to hold his basket and he kept throwing the eggs down to crack them open, putting a piece of candy in his mouth and then saying "EWWWW!" It was hilarious! Oliver was an old pro and couldn't wait to get to all the eggs. I purposely hid two at each spot so Oliver could take one and leave the other for Isaac as he ran on ahead!

This morning I actually forgot that the Easter bunny had come. So after Oliver woke up and we were starting to get ready for church he comes running into the bathroom yelling "THE EASTER BUNNY CAME!" It was funny. Then he ran back to the living room and grabbed the two Easter baskets! Instead of a ton of candy I put one candy and some Thomas the Train fruit snacks in their baskets. Isaac was SO excited for the fruit snacks, but I think he was more excited that they were Thomas the Train snacks. He kept saying over and over again "It's a choo choo!" So cute! It was a fun morning. After Church we raced home to scarf down leftovers because there's not enough time to cook anything after church before Berto has to run out the door. And now the kids are sleeping! Yay for naptime! It was a good, quiet Easter Sunday! It's days like this I kind of wished we lived closer to family. Holidays get a little lonely, especially when Berto works a lot of them!

Happy Easter from the Galindo's!

Isaac Update

Happy Boy outside playing!

I just love this picture of my sweet boys holding hands!

We got a call this afternoon (Saturday) from the pediatrician. Thankfully Isaac has transient hyperphosphatasemia. This is a good thing. This means he will essentially grow out of this in 3-6 months. Based on the two blood tests he had this week he is already showing signs that the enzyme levels are going down. We may have to deal with intermittent vomiting but I'll take that any day over what some of the other outcomes could have been.

The food allergy tests all came back negative. I think we will continue to keep him off of regular milk for now as it does seem to bother him, but good to know that he doesn't have celiac's disease or an egg allergy either!

The other thing that Dr. Carter mentioned this afternoon is that his vitamin D is very low as well. So we will get to work on fixing that issue ASAP.

I cannot even express how relieved I am right now. The past few days have been pure torture waiting and wondering. I am so grateful that my sweet little boy is going to be just fine. Isaac is such a sweet boy. He has brought so much joy to our family. He has this sweet personality and funny sense of humor. We all adore him and are so thankful to our Heavenly Father for sending him to our family. And we are so thankful that he is going to be as good as new in just a few short months or sooner!

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and words of encouragement, faith and support. We are truly grateful.

Isaac

Over the past month Isaac has had several episodes where he randomly vomits. Sometimes it's one isolated incident. Sometimes it's twice and sometimes it's several bouts of vomiting in a day. Last weekend he had an episode on Saturday and Sunday, so I finally decided it was time to take him into the doctor. This just didn't seem normal to me.

So first thing Monday morning (April 2nd) I called and got him an appointment to see our pediatrician Dr. Carter. He was basically stumped but was leaning towards the possibility of some kind of blockage (probably poop) that was making it difficult for the food to digest and causing bouts of vomiting or possibly a food allergy. So he gave us some lab orders and sent us to Primary Children's Hospital for X-rays of his stomach and a blood work up to test for some possible food allergies. (Celiacs disease Milk allergy and Egg allergy). Monday evening he called to say the X-Ray looked normal so now we were just waiting for the results of the blood tests.

On Wednesday morning Dr. Carter called to let me know that one of the tests came back and that Isaac did not have celiacs disease. BUT there is an enzyme found in the liver and the bones (which thanks to Dr. Google is called alkaline phosphatase) and his is elevated by 5%. This means we needed to head back to primary children's for more blood tests to rule out a few things. The doctor is pretty certain that Isaac has what is called Transient Hyperphosphetatemia. If this is the case it is benign and he'll basically grow out of it in 3-6 months as the enzyme levels drop and he'll just need to be retested. We just need to rule out (by blood test) other possibilities. (which also thank you to Dr. Google and NOT Dr. Carter because he didn't want to get me worked up unnecessarily could be liver or bone disease but we're really hoping it's not anything other than transient hyperphosphetatemia.) Doctors don't know what causes TH but it does go away on it's own. It seems hopeful that this is the case because his enzyme levels are raised 5% and with TH enzyme levels are typically not raised more than 4-5%. We are waiting and praying and hoping that we hear back before the weekend so we don't have to spend the weekend fretting over what might be... We will keep up to date!

Superstar!!

In March Oliver was the Star of the Week at preschool again! This is always his favorite week. This time we made a scrapbook page all about Oliver. Oliver has become such a good helper and such a good big brother. He loves Isaac and Isaac adores Oliver. Isaac wants to do everything his big brother does!
Here are the pictures and the little blurbs we used for his scrapbook page.

The Museum of Natural Life at the U

Back in February we went to the new Dino museum at the University of Utah! It was a fun time. It was beautiful inside and out and the kids had a ton of fun! Oliver is obsessed with Dinosaurs and Isaac had a blast too. They had quite a few hands on activities for the kids. It was a great day! Here are a few of the pictures we took while we were there!

Raising your spirited child!

A few weeks ago a friend from our Arizona days posted on facebook that she had just finished a book that was awesome. Its called "Raising your spirited child, a guide for parents whose child is more intense, sensitive, perceptive, persistent and energetic" When she posted about it right then I felt that fit the description of my Oliver to a T. I'm only a few chapters in but I can see how much this book is going to change our quality of life. I've felt exhausted for a long tim e and felt like I constantly yellat Oliver. I'm hoping this will help me as a mother so much. I will be doing a full report on this book when I'm finished.

Picture post!

Just a cute picture of Isaac with a random hat! He's such a fun happy crazy little boy!

Aunt Lianna bought the boys this adorable tent for Christmas and the boys are obsessed with it! Especially Isaac. He wants it out all the time!

This was a proud mommy moment! Last Sunday in primary they made CTR shields. In preschool they're learning to write their names. I was so proud of Oliver for writing most of his name and CTR on his own shield!

Our little SUPERSTAR!

At preschool every couple of months each kid gets a chance to be the star of the week. Last week was Oliver's second turn! Miss Sam sends home a little questionaire and they get spotlighted and get to feel special all week! This time they decorated a cardboard gingerbread person to look like themselves. It's so much fun for the kids!

This is the blurb (with Oliver's answers to the questionaire) that was in the weekly newsletter.
This weeks star of the week is Oliver. Oliver's favorite breakfast is waffles and his favorite song is Jingle Bells. Out of all of the holidays, Oliver's favorite is Christmas. He loves to hop with his Mommy, and his favorite vacation was "when we went to Disneyland and Sea World last summer". Oliver has 4 people in his family, and his favorite treat is candy pizza. What makes Oliver happy is "Santa Claus and LOTS of presents." We love Oliver!

It makes them feel so special!

Isaac's 15 month well visit

Isaac LOVES his big Brother!

Isaac is into EVERYTHING!!!
Last week Isaac turned 15 months! This little boy is growing and changing so fast. He walked just after his first birthday and he is such a curious little monkey! Isaac says mama, dada, hi, bye, uh-oh, what is it? and luv you! Isaac is a climber and gets into a lot of trouble. He also wants to do everything his cool big brother does! He is such a crazy boy! We love our sweet little Isaac!

15 month Stats:
Weight: 25.38 lbs 63rd percentile
height: 31.5 inches 63rd percentile

Berto's Birthday

Berto turned 35 this year! We didn't do too much. Just had a quiet day at home with the kids! I made Berto chicken, bacon pasta for dinner (I didn't like it) and a yummy chocolate cake! Berto got the motorolla razr that he's been wanting! It was a quiet day but good! We love you Berto and love all you do for us! Happy Birthday!! (Old man!)

Christmas

The Holiday's this year were great. Oliver really "GOT" it! Not just Santa but also the Birth of our Savior. We had a great Christmas. My mom and sister were able to fly up and of course all of the grandparents spoiled the boys rotten! Christmas eve we had a FULL house. It was us, my mom, my sister and my brother. Everyone slept over so that Oliver (and Isaac) didn't have to wait to open their presents.
We had a special Christmas day. We opened gifts and ate breakfast. Then we all got ready for church. After church we came home and got our Christmas dinner ready. I made gluten free Lasagna with Itallian sausage, spinach, ricotta and mozzarella. It was yummy! Then after dinner we piled into the cars and headed down to Temple Square to see the lights! It was a great day! And we were so happy to have my mom and sister with us from California!

I was especially glad because I came down with a really high fever and sore throat and my mom was here for a few days to help with my kids! It was great!

Halloween

This year Halloween was super fun! Oliver loved trick or treating (even though he was REALLY shy about actually saying trick or treat!) Oliver was Rescue Hero Billy Blazes and Isaac was a pumpkin!
We went to the Trunk or Treat at our Church Building and at Verizon they had a little halloween festival with snacks, a little spook alley and trick or treating through out the call center. It was fun and Oliver loved going around daddy's work!

Oliver's 4th Birthday

Our big 4 year old!

On November 4, 2011 Oliver turned 4 years old! Oliver is such a fun energetic little boy! He is so fun to be around! Oliver's favorite thing in the world right now is preschool. He thrives from preschool. He loves the social and educational aspects of it. Even after only two short months he adores it! And I'm so glad! He is still way into cars, trains, airplanes... pretty much anything boyish! We of course officially celebrated his birthday with Isaac and a fun little party two weeks earlier and since we were right in the middle of finishing up our move (really bad timing darn it!) We had a Costco pizza lunch (O's fave) and some cake! And we of course opened presents. This was a funny day. We ate at our dining table in the middle of the living room surrounded by boxes and bins! There was hardly room to walk and we couldn't find our flame throwers or matches so Oliver had to pretend to blow out his candles. But he was so excited to be 4 and get his presents that he didn't care!

We love our Oliver and feel so happy to be his parents!

Oliver's 4 year Stats:
Height: 3 ft 9 inches Tall 100 percentile
Weight: 53 lbs 100 percentile

Oliver has been consistent since birth! He's our little giant and we love him!

The Move

On October 5, 2011 our landlords gave us 30 days notice to move. The house we were renting was behind a business that they own and they decided they needed to expand some office space into the house! ... So we were on the move again! Moving day(s) were November 3rd and 4th. Moving went pretty smoothly and we found a cute apartment in Holladay, Ut. We really love living in Holladay. It's in a beautiful neighborhood, with a great (pretty close) view of the mountains and very close to a library! I'm especially loving apartment living right now because there is so much less to clean! :) We haven't lived in an apartment since we were first married and I'd forgotten what a cinch it is to keep up an apartment! We were really sad to leave the ward we were in because it felt like home! I guess though there are new people we need to meet and things we need to do here in Holladay!

Isaac's Birthday and our 5th Anniversary!

1st Birthday Boy!

The boys with their cakes!

Anniversary flowers!

Ok, our computer has been down for way too long and I'm happy to report that we have a brand new computer and I am officially (for real this time) back to blogging! :) I have quite a bit of catching up to do so I'm starting with Isaac's 1st birthday and well visit!

We really didn't get to crazy for either of the boys birthday's this year. We were in the throws of moving (which will come in another post) so time didn't allow for anything too big!

On the day of Isaac's first birthday we had our family pictures taken and that evening we had a couple families from our ward at church over to celebrate. We did a kind of combined part for both boys. My friend Wendi made this AMAZING Thomas the Train cake for Oliver and I made a little turtle cupcake cake for Isaac. It was a fun evening we ate pizza and cake and let the kids run wild! It was a good day!

Isaac at age one was already saying mama and dada.

Isaac's 12 month stats:
Weight: 23.44 lbs 60 percentile
Height: 30.22 inches 65 percentile

We love our Isaac. He is such a joy and so much fun to be around. He's a great eater (which is a HUGE change from his big brother)!

As I mentioned before we were in moving mode this year so our anniversary (which is Isaac's birthday) was pretty low key. We exchanged cards and Berto got me some gorgeous flowers.... and we had a party for the kids! We didn't have a chance to do anything exciting even on our 5 year milestone anniversary! Oh well there's always next year! I can't even believe we've been married for 5 years. We've done a lot in five years. We've had two beautiful boys, lived in 3 states, moved (after this one is finished) 7 times! And that is just the tip of the iceberg! I am so grateful to have such a loving, hardworking, kind, generous, fun loving, funny, handsome husband. I love you Roberto! Here's to a million more anniversaries to come!
